Camping Trip 2009, Day 2

So today I traveled from McClure Pass to Gunnison, and I am currently staying at a nice little campground, Rosy Lane. My site is right next to the river, which drowns out the noise from the road and after the poor sleep last night from a bad site selection from a lightly used camp ground, I am looking forward to sleeping tonight. As I left my campsite this morning I passed many cyclists along the way who were participating in Ride the Rockies. I drove the route which my dad would take and realized that day one would be just as easy at I thought, but as I continued to drive to Gunnison today, I realized that day 2 is far from as easy I thought. Day 2 takes my dad from Hotchkiss to Gunnison. The portion of the road from Crawford to Blue Mesa is one of many surprises, I thought that I had reached the peak of the climb and I started down a hill, just to come around a corner and see that it was up hill again. I hope that my dad can make it through day 2, just as strong as day 1.

The sound of the river is something that just can not be explained. While I was in Vail working for the summer, I had some friends that were also working at other courses in the valley, one was lucky enough to have an apartment that was right off the Eagle River. The first time I showed up at his place and heard the water I was more jealous than a kid at a candy store has to watch someone get what he wanted while he left with nothing. I was unlucky enough to have to share a studio apartment with a kid from another school, who had no respect for other person belongings. This set me off to try to convince my boss that in the future he should look at the apartments farther away as a place for his employees to stay. But no such luck. The Buzz is the choice for all interns, cause of its close proximity to the course. This night will be truly remembered for the river and the fire that I have going on right now.
